Further to &Beyond’s statement of 23 May 2017, covering the proposed implementation of the increased concession fee by Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA); we are yet to receive any confirmation from the government, following the industry’s lobbying efforts to postpone this change. With just 12 working days till the proposed implementation of this additional fee, we feel we, (and our clients), should plan for implementation as of the 1st of July 2017, which is the most up to date implementation date we have been given at present.
As part of this increase, additional per guest costs will be levied on &Beyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp, at USD35 per person per night, and &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, at USD 24 per person per night.
At &Beyond we strongly believe in trying to give our clients and guests the best possible experience throughout their stay, including from the time of reservation, and have thus, in their interests, decided to absorb the additional costs for all bookings which are confirmed and deposited prior to close of business. Wednesday 21 June 2017.
From Thursday 22 June 2017, for all new bookings on behalf of guests arriving after the implementation date of 01 July 2017, we will plan to levy an additional fee (in line with exactly what is being charged per lodge as above) to cover the additional charge being levied. This will be treated as an additional ‘park fee’ rather than added to the rate of the lodge or similar, and will be paid directly to TANAPA in line with their new policy.
Although this will generate considerable additional cost to &Beyond, we believe that this is the right thing to do in the interests of our clients and guests, in order to minimise the impact for those who have already made, (and paid for), firm travel plans prior to the Tanzanian government informing us of this change.
While this does impact &Beyond’s Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp and Lake Manyara Tree Lodge (both of which are located inside the National Parks, and offer a superlative game viewing experience), we are pleased to confirm it will not impact our other lodges outside of the National Parks, or any of our camps and lodges outside of Tanzania.
